ACCPC envisions an inclusive society in which people who use AAC have equal access to all community services.

ACCPC provides guidance, tools and resources on communication accessibility to government ministries and municipalities, health care agencies, consumer organizations, attendant services, school boards, colleges, universities, legal professionals, police, employers, public transportation organizations.

Communication accessibility includes:

  • Service providers who know how to communicate with people who use AAC;
  • Receptionists who know how to communicate over the phone with people who use AAC;
  • Agency accommodations for:
  • Physical and attendant services.
  • Appointment planning.
  • Alternate formats information.
  • Policies and procedure adaptations to support the unique needs of people who sue AAC.
  • Practices that respect the privacy of people who use AAC.

ACCPC offers:

  • Workshops and agency consultations.
  • Experienced trainers including people who use AAC.
  • Target groups/agencies:
  • Attendant services
  • Health care services
  • Counseling services
  • Addiction services
  • Consumer organizations
  • Family support services
  • Legal services
  • Police
  • Victim support services
  • Educators
  • Employers

Cost: Fee for service basis.
