Door Openers and Closers

The majority of the participants in this project have no way to independently open and close the doors to their rooms or apartments. These devices are typically provided via Electronic Aids to Daily Living (EADL) services. 

Participants want more funding and access to these services and devices.

Door opener in armrest of wheelchair

Tim opens the doors of his apartment using switches embedded the armrest of his wheelchair. To protect the switches he has covered them with a piece of leather using strong Velcro.

He has access to another set of switches when he is in bed.
