Darlene Jelenic
I am a mentor for youth who use AAC at the Technology Access Clinic in Hamilton. I communicate by selecting items on my device using an infrared pointer. The pointer is a tiny dot that is stuck to the bridge of my glasses. I select what I want to say on my device by aiming the pointer at the item. When I hold it on the item for a certain amount of time, the device speaks out the word.

I am an advocate for people with disabilities. I communicate by looking at words on my display. The person who I’m communicating with points to words in the area I am looking at. I nod my head or use my voice when they point to the word I want to say.
