Communication Access Rights
Communication access means having ways to communicate authentically, meaningfully and equally to others in the community.
People who have communication disabilities have the right to accessibility accommodations or supports to ensure that they can effectively communicate while accessing goods and services.
Communication Rights include:
- The right to be treated with dignity and respect
- The right to use augmentative and alternative communication
- The right to increased time to communicate
- The right to use a communication assistant
- The right to get verbal and written information in ways that can be used and understood
- The right to use alternate signatures
- The right to give feedback to an organization on accessibility issues
