Communication Supports

ACCPC will make every effort to accommodate a variety of communication, physical, mental, language and cultural needs, while respecting the privacy and dignity and independence of the individual.

All requests for communication supports will be met unless it creates extreme costs or health and safety risks (defined as "undue hardship" under Ontario’s Human Rights Code).

Examples of communication supports that ACCPC can accommodate when working on projects:

  • accommodating or giving you a communication assistant, if you require one
  • ensuring that the physical space is wheelchair accessible
  • giving you the time and opportunity you require to communicate your messages
  • ensuring you have ways to communicate with us on the telephone, in person or via e-communications
  • giving you text and print materials in ways you can use and understand
  • giving you note–taking and / or written support when required for your participation in ACCPC activities
