Speak Up 2003

This display contains generic body parts that are inside the body.

Example of use:

In Speak Up's educational sessions, these words were explained using pictures of whole bodies and personal reference to one's own body when appropriate. Discussion focused on body part names, locations and functions.

While reviewing and discussing items on this page, a sexual health educator was speaking about the picture of the bladder when an AAC user used her body language (pushing back in her wheelchair) to alert the sexual health educator that she had something to communicate about the word "bladder". She indicated the word "problem" on her display. The sexual educator asked permission to guess what the AAC user might mean and through a process of guessing, the AAC user was able to tell the sexual health educator that she was worried about incontinence in situations of sexual intimacy. She asked the sexual health educator to accompany her and to assist her in communicating her questions to a doctor.
