Barbara Collier
Barbara Collier is a Speech-Language Pathologist who has extensive experience working with adults and children who use augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). She has worked as a senior consultant with The Augmentative Communication Service, Bloorview MacMillan Centre, Director of The Adult Adaptive Communication Service and Senior Consultant in AAC service development and training in Ontario, Canada. |

Barbara has initiated and managed projects such as Safeguarding People who use Augmentative Communication from Sexual Abuse/Victimization; Reducing the Risk of Abuse; Early Literacy; Communication and Attendant Services and Equal Justice. She provides workshops for people who use AAC, their families and service providers on a range of topics relating to self-determination.
Barbara is the author of See What We Say-Vocabulary and Tips for adults who use AAC (Brookes Publishing Co.) and Communicating Matters - a DVD training guide for attendants working with people with enhanced communication needs. She is the primary author of Communicate 3100 (2001) and Communicate 4 (2006) - application modules and home study programs for adults and youth (DynaVox Technologies).
Barbara has published articles in peer reviewed journals and is a frequent invited speaker at conferences.
In July 2010, Barbara was awarded a Fellowship of the International Society for Augmentative and Alternative Communication.
